Mitchell Regatta Past Results: Fall 2026

Notes

The morning started out with a nice 10-12 knots from the east, a bit more than the 5-10 knots predicted. It wasn't to last, however. By early afternoon the breeze had dropped to 5 knots or less. The current was quite strong, flushing eastward north of Block Island. Coupled with the light winds, the current pulled many boats near the reef north of the island and the fleet got spread out as a result. At least the calm conditions made for easy docking and a relaxing time once we were all in.

Sunday started out with a southeast breeze as predicted. The Monday forecast of 15-20 knots from the north or northeast had everybody planning to leave after the awards. With rain in the forecast for the afternoon, it was collectively decided to push up the hors d'oeuvres and awards to right after the brocktail contest at 1000.

Brocktail Contest

Vento Solare's mudslides with chocolate turtles were declared the winner! Other excellent entries included Sabre Tooth's espresso martinis, and Dark Star with an original concoction.

Costume Contest

Dark Star kids with the duck and dinosaur skeleton took the prize! It was an excellent selection of entries including Mike Ditka and the Chicago Bears (Sabre Tooth), Pegasus, and the full crew of pirates from Wild Swan.
